Main ContentIUI- Intrauterine Insemination
Intra-Uterine Insemination (IUI) is the process of inserting sperm into the uterine cavity near the time of ovulation.
For this treatment, a sperm sample is collected and then washed to maximize the best available sperm. This is then inserted into the uterine cavity via a small catheter.

Fee Estimates for IUI
Patients with infertility due to male factor infertility, unexplained infertility or failure of other treatment methods often use intrauterine insemination (IUI) to improve their chances for pregnancy. This relatively simple treatment method uses medication to boost ovulation, ultrasound to monitor progress toward ovulation and a trigger shot to maximize timing. The insemination procedure itself involves placing the concentrated sperm through the cervix into the uterus to increase the number of sperm in the tubes available to fertilize the egg. The procedure is performed in the office, is virtually painless and does not require any special restriction of your activity afterwards.
Your chances of success with the IUI procedure are highest during the first three attempts. To give our patients their best chance of success we have a package for the IUI procedure that allows three attempts for $1,000. IUI treatment package includes:
- Three covered cycles (or until a live birth occurs, whichever is first)
- One ultrasound per cycle
- Sperm washing and preparation
- One IUI per cycle
Monitoring: In some cases an additional ultrasound may be required for proper timing of the insemination. Each additional ultrasound beyond the three ultrasounds included in the package will require payment of $175 on the day of the ultrasound.
Medications: The ovulation induction medications used for this procedure are not part of the package price. The costs of these drugs will vary from pharmacy to pharmacy and are subject to change. Because the number of doses per cycle will vary from patient to patient, it is difficult to estimate the cost of medication per cycle. The typical cost for oral medications is less than $200 per cycle.
Insurance and payment: At this time, most fertility treatments are not covered by health insurance carriers. For this reason, we require prepayment for these treatments. We will waive the prepayment requirement and agree to bill your insurance only if your insurance company provides written confirmation of coverage and appropriate authorization of services.
